Jordan Preston cancelled out Ryan Johnson’s early header to earn Gateshead a valuable point on the road to Kidderminster.

The point has stopped the four-game run of losses for Mike Williamson’s Gateshead but the Heed still find without a must-needed win.

Johnson nodded the hosts ahead after just 11-minutes after Ashley Hemmings’ cross evaded the Heed defence.

However, Preston gave the visitors a quick response as he brought the Heed back to level terms within seven minutes of the opening goal.

Neat build-up play from Gateshead allowed Greg Olley to pick out Preston in the box and the striker slotted the ball home – capping off a stunning move.

The Harriers were having a lot of joy in getting behind the Heed defence and Ashley Chambers almost capitalised on that but fired well over from close range.

Provider for the equaliser, Olley could have put the visitors ahead going into the break but was unable to beat Will Mannion from inside the box.

Chambers had a chance to redeem himself as he found himself one-on-one with Brad James but was unable to beat the goalkeeper who stood his ground well.

Preston had the chance double his tally late on and clinch the points after beating the defence for pace but failed to hit the target.
