FA Vase Draw: West Auckland handed 764-mile round trip in Fifth Round

The FA Vase trophy on it’s plinth before the game

West Auckland Town have been handed a mammoth journey in the FA Vase Round of 16 draw with a trip to Western League leaders Plymouth Parkway.

West Auckland Town beat Walsall Wood 1-0, with Lewis Dodds scoring the only goal of the game just after the break.

The win sees West Auckland only four games from Wembley, but their reward is a 764-mile round trip, that will take place on the 8th February.

Elsewhere Hebburn Town have been rewarded with a trip to Longridge Town after an early goal from Olly Martin helped the South Tyneside team to a 1-0 win at Vauxhall Motors.

Consett will have to wait to find out their opponents, but they know they will be at home. The Steelmen have been drawn against even Deal Town, from Kent, or Binfield, from Berkshire.

Consett reached the round of 16 by winning 3-1 against Lutterworth Town. The game was delayed by an hour due to strong winds, but when the game got underway Luke Carr put the hosts ahead in the first half.

After the break Darren Holden and Ali Alshabeeb scored either side of a Kade Lewis penalty.

2017-18 runners up Stockton Town were the only Northern League side to be knocked out this weekend, with Joe Obi scoring the only goal of the game for Atherstone Town, the lowest ranked side left in the competition.
