Heaton Stannington clinch promotion in Northern League 2 Play Off Final  

Final game of the season for Heaton Stannington and everything rides on this game as they welcome Tow Law Town to Grounsell Park. 

Early into the game, play was stopped as Heaton striker Dean Holmes received treatment after a coming together with a Tow Law Town player. This resulted in Holmes being replaced by James Proctor 14 minutes gone. 

16th minute and the visitors are awarded a penalty, a mix up in the box resulting in a Tow Law player on the floor and the ref points to the spot. 

16’ and it is a goal Regan gets a strong hand on it, but the penalty finds its way in. 0-1. 

20th minute and the Stan are having a good spell of possesion and applying some pressure with Proctor and Stephenson linking up on the right hand side and winning numerous corners, and crosses but TL dealing with them. 

Half Time and it remains Stan 0-1 Tow Law, not a lot in it, a pen separates the teams. 

Second Half is underway! The attendance at the ground today as an incredible 1019. 

58th minute and a fast break from the Stan is on as Stephenson receives the ball in the penalty and calmly slots it under the keeper! 1-1. 

65th minute and the Stan are looking to take the lead after a flurry of shots saved by TL keeper Lewis Graham keeping them in the game. 

70th minute the games becoming scrappy now neither side playing much football nobody taking any risks 

90th minute Deep into added time now the referee has added on 5 minutes and the Stan have a corner kick but there will be a delay whilst a TL player gets treatment. Still 1-1. 

90+4 – GOAL! Captain fantastic, Ryan Bailey, gets the goal for the Stan with the last kick of the game that secures promotion to the Northern League premiership. 

Full time and the Stan won 2-1. In a game which was their toughest test of the season, TL did not let them have it easy and glorious scenes now as the Stan fans flood the pitch.
