Durham look to build on good start against Yorkshire
After having a week off to recharge the batteries and enjoy being top of Division Two, Durham return to action against a Yorkshire side that are struggling to dominate the league like many predicted.
Due to bad weather and shock results, this week’s visitors to Seat Unique Riverside currently find themselves languishing in 6th position, less than ideal for such a well known county who suffered a shock final day relegation from the top division last year.
They have named a strong squad for the game, and are boosted by skipper Shan Masood being available for the first time this season. Jonny Bairstow continues his return to fitness as he looks to bring some form to the batting lineup.
For Durham, there are potential debuts for New Zealand international Ajaz Patel and Netherlands all-rounder Bas De Leede, but coach Ryan Campbell might be hesitant to change a winning team.
Patel has just signed for a maximum of seven County Championship games after Matt Kuhnemann was ruled out of his stint in the North East with a serious back injury. De Leede has not been seen so far for Durham due to rehabbing an injury, but has stepped up his comeback in recent weeks and offers more strength in the bowling department for skipper Scott Borthwick.
Durham will be looking to make it four games unbeaten, whereas Yorkshire will be looking to spoil the party and reignite their own promotion charge.
