Match Report: Benfield FC 7-1 North Allerton Town

 

 

A Jay Errington hat-trick saw Benfield come back from 1-0 down to beat Northallerton Town 7-1 in their EABC Northern League fixture.

Northallerton Town opened the scoring in the fifth minute with Dale Hopson. Debutant Noah Millington equalized for The Lions in the 27th minute.

Aiden Haley scored Benfield’s second in the 30th minute before the Lions scored two more before half time.

Benfield scored three more goals after half time. Errington completed his hat trick in the 63rd minute whilst Andre Bennett also scored.

The 7-1 victory saw Benfield end their three-game losing streak.

Northallerton Town grabbed the opening goal as Hopson’s mishit cross wound up in the net.

A poorly defended corner saw Northallerton allow Benfield’s Millington to score the equaliser.

Haley gave Benfield the lead following an Errington pass. More nervy play from the Northallerton goalkeeper saw his side concede a corner.

Errington would score from Dan Smith’s corner in the 33rd minute extending the lead. Alfie Hyde scored Benfield’s fourth in the 39th minute following a one-two pass from Millington.

Hayley assisted Errington’s second driving through the midfield and setting up Errington for his second in the 50th minute.  Hayley was crucial again in the 57th minute passing it to Bennett who scored from 30 yards.

Errington retrieved the ball in the Northallerton half getting past their defence to complete his hat trick in the 63rd minute.
