Team Sunderland Men’s 2nds triumph in six-goal derby win against Sunderland 4ths

Sunderland Men’s 4ths 0-6 Sunderland Men’s 2nds

Sunderland 4ths fell to four consecutive defeats, as Sunderland 2nds took the bragging rights in a thrilling derby.

Ryan Abba opened the scoring for the 2nds after 20 minutes, before doubling the lead going into half-time.

The third came from James Alpine early into the second half and Danny Brown made it four in the 60th minute, as they saw the game out by adding two more goals, from Adam Lennox and Gideon Adeyemi, to their tally before full-time.

The 4ths came into the game after not playing for two weeks, due to being knocked out of the cup against Richmond, and the game had to be rescheduled due to snowy conditions.

The 2nds started on the front foot in the first 20 minutes and went ahead through Abba’s great finish from outside the box into the top corner.

The 4ths kept trying to pose a threat to the 2nds, attempting to break their flow of attacks, but nothing came of it, as Alpine headed a third in for the 2nds after a great ball was played in from the right-hand side to the back post.

Brown stole the show with his goal directly from a corner in the 60th minute to make it four, before Lennox and Adeyemi added two more before the final whistle to end the derby with a six-goal lead.
