Team Sunderland’s week 15 round-up
Week 15 of Team Sunderland’s 2023-24 BUCS season has been one of the most successful weeks of the campaign, with only one defeat between the seven teams in action.
There was a big win for the Men’s Football 2nds, as they made it three games unbeaten in 2024, courtesy of a 3-0 victory over Northumbria’s 6ths (i2i).
The Men’s 3rds came from two goals down at home to Hull’s 3rds at Ford Quarry Hub to claim a point, whilst in their first match of the calendar year, the Men’s 7ths drew 1-1 with Northumbria’s 8ths (i2i).
For the Women’s Football 1sts, they bounced back from last week’s damaging 9-1 defeat to Leeds’ 1sts, with a point at home to York’s 1sts in a 1-1 draw on Wednesday night.
Meanwhile, in Rugby Union, the Women’s 1sts made it back-to-back wins, as they eased past York’s 2nds in a 24-0 point victory in a display that earned Team Sunderland’s ‘Performance of the Week’.
Team Sunderland’s Women’s Volleyball 1sts also responded to last week’s defeat away to Durham’s 3rds and returned to winning ways, with a 3-0 win over Northumbria’s 2nds making it two wins from three in 2024.
However, the only defeat of the week’s round of fixtures came at Newcastle University Sport & Fitness Centre, as the Netball 1sts impressive Northern Conference Trophy run ended in the semi-finals at the hands of Newcastle 4ths.
