Team Sunderland’s week 19 round-up

The finish line is in sight for the end of the 2023-24 BUCS season, and there were only three fixtures on week 19 of the calendar.

The only win of the round came from the Men’s Rugby Union 1sts, as they made it four wins on the bounce in 2024, and three consecutive victories over the same opposition to close out the season.  

After beating Northumbria’s 4ths to clinch the BUCS Northern Conference Shield, the same opposition have been defeated in back-to-back weeks in the league, as the Men’s 1sts won 22-16. 

However, the men’s football season ended in disappointment, as the 2nds made it two consecutive defeats with a 2-1 loss away at York St. John’s 4ths (i2i). 

It was also defeat for the Women’s Volleyball 1sts, as they lost their second match on the spin; this week, a 3-0 defeat away to Hull’s 1sts.
