Burnley 1-4 Newcastle United
Newcastle continues their push for European football after thrashing relegation-threatened Burnley at Turf Moor in the Premier League.
Newcastle took the lead in the 19th minute after Alexsander Isak’s shot was deflected off the goalkeeper straight into the path of Callum Wilson and he tapped it into the back of the net.
They then doubled their lead in the 35th minute after a low cross by Jacob Murphy found Sean Longstaff in acres of space and finished it into the bottom corner.
Bruno Guimaraes was next on the score sheet after Anthony Gordon squared it to the Brazilian and he was never going to miss.
Newcastle’s domination continued into the second half. Josh Brownhill took Gordon down in the box and the referee pointed to the spot. Isak is usually prolific from the spot but not this time as Arijanet Muric got the better of him.
Isak found redemption three minutes later with a fantastic finish making it 4-0 to the visitors.
Burnley found a consolation goal when Johann Berg Gudmundsson’s corner found Dara O’Shea and his powerful header went over everyone and into the back of the net.
