Newcastle United: Why Alexander Isak must stay at the club

Newcastle United have to keep striker  Alexander Isak this summer transfer window.

The Swedish International has scored 21 Premier League goals this season, which made him the first Newcastle player to score more than 20 since Alan Shearer.

Isak’s form saw him earn a nomination for both Premier League Young Player of the Season and Premier League Player of the Season, which were won by Cole Palmer and Phil Foden respectively.

Manager Eddie Howe said this on the Swede: “[Isak] has scored some great goals for us, especially in the second half of the season, he is fully deserving of that recognition. I have seen him flourish this season; he has enjoyed the environment he has played in. I want to push Alex to great things.”

With the Magpies faced with Financial Fair Play restrictions, the 24-year-old has been linked with a move in the summer.

Arsenal and PSG are strongly linked with the Swede who has been stylistically compared to the great Thierry Henry.

According to SofaScore, Isak has averaged a goal every 108 minutes and has tallied 21 goal contributions from 27 starts.

He is also in the top 10% of forwards globally for successful take ons according to Fbref.

Newcastle United are sure to do all they can to keep their No.14 at St James’ Park.
