Newcastle Blue Star won 5-2 against Whickham in the Northern League Division One on Saturday.

The win saw Blue Star rise to 5th in the Division One table and the newly-promoted outfit sit 13 points off second, but with three games in hand.

Whickham meanwhile are slumped in 20th position and are still yet to get going this season despite the departure of manager Lee Haldane back in September. Tony Fawcett will be hoping his side find a run of form soon otherwise they risk falling further down the table.
