Sunderland Uni women’s winless run continued losing 13-1 against high flying Leeds Beckett seconds in the Northern Conference Cup.
Leeds took the lead just four minutes in before the home side levelled in the 15th minute. However the away side were ruthless and got another four before half time to give them a strong cushion going into the second half.
After the break, they continued as they left off, scoring five goals in quick succession just fifteen minutes into the half.
Leeds then extended their Leeds ten minutes later with two more quickfire goals to leave the score at 13-1.
The away side started well, going one nil up just four minutes in after the Leeds right winger was played in from a nice through ball and slotted it home.
Sunderland reacted well and levelled the score in the 15th minute after they had a corner half-cleared and managed to keep it alive before striker Megan Wheeler fired home to equalise.
However Leeds didn’t let this disrupt their rhythm as they forced a few smart saves from the Sunderland keeper to keep the home side in the contest before they took the lead again in the 21st minute. After a scuffed shot found its way right in the path of the Leeds left winger Lily Stancliffe, she had a simple tap in to put them back in the lead.
Two minutes later, the Leeds left winger got another. After being played in behind the Sunderland defence by the central midfielder she found herself one on one and slotted it past the Sunderland goalkeeper.
A few minutes later they got their fourth of the game through a large slice of luck when the Leeds right winger was played in behind and the Sunderland keeper beat her to the ball but her clearance deflected back off the Leeds forward and in.
Leeds got their fifth just a few minutes later after a mix-up in communication at the back for Sunderland allowed the Leeds striker to have a tap in, giving them a five goal cushion going into half time.
The away side continued as they left off after the break with four back to back goals before the 55th minute. The Leeds left winger got her third of the game and their seventh before putting another on a plate for the Beckett striker to make it 8-1 and moments after that they got their ninth.
On the 60th minute the Leeds central midfielder scored a great goal with a long range effort before they got another through no 15 Amber Cooling.
Two minutes later, the Leeds central midfielder Josie Tucker got her side’s twelfth when she scored a nice solo goal after some great individual skill before the away side got their final goal of the game a few moments later concluding the rout.
