Newcastle United Targeting PSV winger Johan Bakayoko
It has been recently reported that Newcastle United are looking to sign in form PSV Eindhoven winger Johan Bakayoko.
The Telegraph has reported that Newcastle are aiming to sign at least one player to bolster manager Eddie Howe’s squad in January. The 21-year-old seems to be near the top of that list for Howe as he looks to strengthen at the Right Wing position.
With the right-wing position lacking quality at Newcastle, The Telegraph has also reported that Miguel Almiron seemingly may be on his way out of the club with offers of over £10m likely to be accepted.
Johan Bakayoko has had a positive start to the season at PSV as he has scored five goals and an assist in the Eredivisie this season. The Belgian seems to have carried on his form from last season where he picked up 12 goals and nine assists in league action. He also contributed in the Champions League with one goal and five assists in their last Champions League Campaign.
The Youngster has also proven himself at the international level with 18 senior caps for Belgium and featured in two games at the European Championships last summer for his country.
The report does say that PSV may be reluctant to lose their star Right Winger in the upcoming January Transfer Window. As PSV currently sit top of the Eredivisie by seven points having only lost one game in league action this season to Dutch giants Ajax in a 3-2 defeat at the start of November.
However a deal for the winger may only be possible in January if Newcastle sell a player in the squad to align with the current FFP (Financial Fair Play) restrictions in the Premier League. Newcastle players like Harvey Barnes, Miguel Almiron and Sean Longstaff have been linked with moves but only time will tell as to whether deals will be completed for the players.
