Is January the right time for a loan move for in-form Ben Parkinson?
With the January window around the corner, clubs up and down the country will be looking to bolster their ranks for the second half of the season, and one man this could benefit is Ben Parkinson.
The young striker has been in fine form this season, scoring five in the league so far this season, as well as one in the Vertu Trophy and two in the newly formed National League Cup.
This form could see the 19-year-old striker become hot property in the lower leagues and a loan move could benefit the youngster.
Parkinson did make his competitive debut for the senior team on 11th November 2023 away at Bournemouth in the Premier League. However, now aged 19, regular minutes in men’s football are slowly becoming a necessity.
One potential suitor for Parkinson could be Carlisle United. Carlisle currently occupies bottom place in League 2 and are the lowest scorers in the league, only scoring 15 goals this season and Parkinson’s firepower could come in useful. On top of this, Carlisle’s current manager is ex-magpie Mike Williamson and the Cumbrians have taken several loan players from Newcastle over the years such as Elias Sorensen.
Overall, a loan move could be perfect for Parkinson with the confidence and form the striker has at the minute as well as giving him a platform to perform in senior football.
