“Aurora is looking to take on board the judges feedback” Rebecca Taylor on how Aurora is looking to improve after BCA Nationals
Rebecca Taylor has a long history in cheerleading and has been performing with North East Cheer since 2019.
At BCA Nationals, Taylor performed with both Aurora and Galaxy. Aurora narrowly missed out on 3rd place by 0.3 points.
After the performance Taylor said: “I was very pleased with how Aurora did at the competition. We hit 0, which means you got no deductions. As a team we trained hard on the run up to the comp so we were over the moon when we managed to hit our routine and missed out on the podium placings by 0.3, so we placed in 4th place, which was way better than we expected.”
Being a seasoned cheerleader, Taylor understands the mental and physical toll that cheerleading can have on one person.
“We work on being physically prepared in training. It takes lots of hard work on strength and stamina to be able to make it through the full routine. We try our best to mentally prepare the team, but it can be difficult for people who have never experienced a cheer competition before because they can have lots of anxiety and stress when going into a competition.”
A moment of relief was all that rushed through the members of Aurora’s body after they finished their routine.
“My favourite part of Aurora’s routine was the moment we hit the ending. Knowing we had done an amazing performance and all the hard work we put in had been worth it in that moment. We all got to celebrate together, which was a lovely moment to bond as a stunt group,” Taylor said.
The 0.3 points are all that Aurora can think about; it cost them third place. The team are looking forward to the next competition and are taking on the judges’ feedback to hopefully grasp that podium place.
Taylor said: “For the next competition, Aurora is looking to take on board the judges’ feedback to improve and develop our routine. We want to try and score higher in our technique category to show our development between the competitions.”
