Sunderland trio nominated for Sky Bet Championship Awards
Regis Le Bris, Jobe Bellingham and Chris Rigg have all been nominated for honours at the Sky Bet Championship’s end of season awards.
Sunderland have had an undoubtedly impressive season, already having secured a spot in the Sky Bet Championship play-offs and three key figures for the Black Cats have been recognised with nomination’s at the EFL’s end of season awards.
Manager Regis Le Bris has guided Sunderland to their best season in over a decade having all but secured fourth position in the Championship, whilst boasting a 50% win percentage in the league this season.
Le Bris, alongside Leeds United’s Daniel Farke, Burnley’s Scott Parker and Sheffield United’s Chris Wilder, is nominated for the prestigious manager of the season accolade.
19 year old midfielder, Jobe Bellingham has been nominated for the Sky Bet Championship Young Player of the Season award.
Jobe has been at the heart of an impressive Sunderland midfield, gaining praise for his impressive performances. The other nominees come in the form of Sheffield Wednesday’s Shea Charles and Burnley’s CJ Egan-Riley.
17 year old Chris Rigg rounds off the Sunderland nominations, with the midfielder being put forward for the EFL Championship Apprentice of the Season Award.
The 2024/25 season has proven to be somewhat of a breakout season for Rigg, making 38 Championship appearances in Sunderland colours this campaign.
Rigg faces competition for the award from, Cardiff City’s Ronan Kpakio and Stoke City’s Souleymane Sidibe.
The winners will be announced at the EFL’s annual ceremony on April 27th, with fans able to watch live on Sky Sports Football at 8:30pm.
