Takeaways from WrestleMania 41 (Night 1)

WrestleMania 41 was not without its headlines and controversial moments, as WWE’s first night of its biggest show of the year had its moments and shocking twists.

I think it can be agreed that Rollins has been missing this identity, for his great music and crazy outfits he wears each week, he hasn’t been the talk of anything other than that period after WrestleMania 40 where people were praising him for being the MVP of that being event.

But the CM Punk rivalry and the triple threat match that saw Paul Heyman pull the trigger on CM Punk and Roman Reigns after a Rollins promo on a recent episode on Monday Night Raw, made him lean that way.

The former World Heavyweight Champion after Saturday night, found himself once again a talking point and a change in direction for Rollins who needed this, because it is now an easy enter back into the title picture and it’s teased an alliance as the new Heyman guy.

It gives Rollins a fresh and new direction for his character.

Pressure on Jey Uso to deliver as WHC

Jey Uso you could say has a love/hate relationship with the fans, the audience that attends the show love him and do his signature taunt with him. The internet wrestling community on the other hand, not so much.

Uso isn’t the greatest in-ring worker on the roster and there are few people that are better inside the squared circle not to mention the rivalry with Gunther only sparked interest with two weeks left.

The big test for Uso is, can he now carry the load, can he deliver consistent performances and how many cutting edge, serious promos will he give rather than just saying YEET most times.

The ball has been given to Uso and it’s now can he go on and run with the title.

Gunther needs to reassert dominance after disappointing World Title run

For each year of his WWE career, Gunther has been a champion. He was the longest reigning NXT UK Champion, longest reigning intercontinental champion and held the World Heavyweight Championship for eight months.

Now if the ring general is taking an absence for a few weeks or months, they need to let him come back and go on a tear, reestablish the presence surrounding him in which he lost after the crown jewel match against Cody Rhodes.

Let him feud with some of the top guys, some who are perhaps former World Champions, grab some wins, he needs to regain the luster he had when he first came in and he had during his IC title run, because he is one of those guys who you can’t afford to fall out of the main event picture.

Tiffany Stratton comes out a better star after retaining over Charlotte

Saturday Night showcased just how big of a star Tiffany Stratton is on her way to being. The match with Charlotte Flair established that sentiment.

All throughout that build, whenever Flair tried to embarrass Stratton, the women’s champion stood her ground and through some jabs back at Flair, meaning she can hang with the best, whether it’s on the mic or as proved in a gritty fight on WrestleMania Night 1, a must win situation in which Stratton showed signs of war with a welt on her face and potentially chipped tooth.

Stratton comes out having got her own moment and the Tiffy Time chants are going to be louder.

Jacob Fatu ready to fully break out on his own

Jacob Fatu has quite literally been all gas, no brakes since the minute he stepped foot into a WWE ring and fans have been left awe inspired by him, with Fatu getting his crowning moment on WrestleMania Night 1 defeating LA Knight for the U.S title.

Fatu is now ready to step out in his own spotlight, he doesn’t need to be part of a faction more, plus the whole Bloodline story has thinned out of air now and pretty much dead in the water you could say.

Fatu is ready to step out on his own and one would think that he will get stabbed in the back by Solo Sikoa, who will have feelings of jealousy after no success of his own. Fatu is one of WWE’s newest beasts ready to release its untapped potential.

Final verdict

Night One was strong on paper, however it only delivered in moments such as Fatu’s first singles Championship victory, not to mention Jade Cargill’s impressive electric chair into powerbomb drop on Naomi for the finish to that match, it fell flat to what many hoped it’d be, with only the main event of that night delivering to fan expectation.

Night One most certainly had its moments but everyone was left shocked after the events of the triple threat main event between Rollins, CM Punk and Paul Heyman. As Heyman dug down to his roots and pulled of two shocking betrayals whilst hinting at a new alliance with Rollins, fans were left in awe and shock after an incredible main event.
