Team Sunderland’s week 4 round-up
Week Four of the 2025-26 BUCS season has seen a busy schedule for Team Sunderland, as they picked up some big wins and unfortunate defeats.
Performance of the Week went to Women’s Rugby Union 1sts, with a comfortable 60-12 win at home to Newcastle 3rds.

The only win of the matchday for the Football teams came from the Men’s 2nds, who made it back-to-back wins with a 3-2 victory away against Northumbria’s 5ths.
Meanwhile, there were three Football defeats, with a 5-0 away loss for the Men’s 1sts against York’s 1sts, while the Men’s 3rds suffered a 4-0 loss away to Northumbria’s 8ths, and the Women’s 1sts were on the wrong end of a narrow 1-0 loss to Sheffield’s 2nds at home.
It was a mixed bag of results for the Basketball teams, as the Men’s 2nds dominated in a 100-34 away win against Huddersfield’s 2nds.
Unfortunately, the Men’s 1sts lost 76-57 away to Newcastle’s 2nds, and the Women 1sts lost 135-31 at home to Sheffield College’s 1sts.
Team Sunderland’s Netball 2nds bounced back from last week’s defeat, as they picked up a 36-21 away win against York St John’s 3rds.
However, similar success didn’t follow for the 1sts and 3rds, as they lost 58-59 at home to York 3rds and 9-89 to Sheffield 6ths respectively.
Team Sunderland saw defeats in their Badminton fixtures, with the Men’s 1sts drawing 4-4 at home to Sheffield’s 2nds, while the Women’s 1sts lost 5-3 to Leeds Beckett 1sts and Men’s 2nds lost 8-0 away to Leeds Beckett 2nds.
The Tennis sides were unbeaten this week, with the Men’s 1sts getting an emphatic 6-0 win against Huddersfield’s 1sts and Women’s 1sts drawing 3-3 at home to York to 1sts.
The final Team Sunderland fixture of the week saw the Volleyball Men’s 1sts lose 3-0 away to Northumbria’s 3rds.
