Lang Jacks look to finish the season off strong in their final home match.

Whickham vs Guisborough Town – Match Preview

Whickham will take to the First Mortgage Glebe pitch for the final time this season on Saturday as they welcome Guisborough Town in the Ebac Northern League. WRITES ADAM TONES.

Tony Fawcett’s team will be looking to finish the season unbeaten at home since his arrival back in October.

The Lang Jacks recorded an impressive 3-1 victory away to Northallerton Town in mid-week keeping the club in touching distance of a top-four finish.

The visitors have been on a good run of form themselves of late with one defeat in their last six league matches.

However, the away team got beat 4-2 last time out in the league against top of the table North Shields.

Guisborough have not kept a clean sheet in the league since their 2-0 victory over bottom of the table Billingham Town in mid-February. A run of just one clean sheet in eight matches.

The hosts will go into the match having registered one defeat in their last 12 matches. A run of form that has seen the Lang Jacks significantly reduce the gap on the teams above them.

The away team sit in 13th position in the league table with four matches remaining.

Guisborough are comfortably clear of the relegation zone with a top 10 finish in reach.

The home team will be hoping to welcome back experienced defender Dale Burrell after missing the victory over Northallerton Town on Wednesday.

There could also be a return for striker Jack Robson and right-back Tom Howard both will undergo late fitness checks.

Zak Atkinson received a red card in midweek, but the striker will be available for Saturday’s match.

The last time these two teams came up against each other, Guisborough claimed all three points in a five-goal thriller.

Goals from Conor Newton and Nathan Greenwood were not enough in December as the Lang Jacks lost 3-2 at The King George V Ground.

As both teams have nothing to lose with their seasons drawing to a close, we could be in for an end-to-end match as Whickham look to get revenge following defeat in December.
