BUCS Futsal captain: “This win breeds confidence”

Sunderland Mens 1st team came from behind to beat Newcastle Mens 2nd and captain Josh Warry was incredibly proud of his team.

Wharry said: “It feels good to get the win.”

In a competitive game, the referee had to step in on many occasions. One time, he went over to the Newcastle bench and told them to calm down.

Wharry believed it was probably their most exciting game so far this season adding: “winning it from 4-1 down, especially against Newcastle was very good”.

Newcastle started the game brightly and went into the break ahead much the better side. Wharry, who was taking charge of the team due to the absence of head coach Tony Loftus, claimed: “We knew we could beat these boys; we knew we were better going forward so I think that getting the first goal back instilled a bit of confidence.”

The two sides met a few weeks ago with the game ending in a 3-2 victory to Sunderland, The Sunderland captain : “They were a much better team today, came out really sharp but in the second half we turned it around”.

Looking ahead to the next few games Wharry said: “The win breeds confidence, (we) won our league last season, (we) moved up to this league, which is a lot more competitive, but we’re showing that were good enough to be here and getting the second win under our belts is good for everyone”.
