Durham players walk onto the pitch during day one of the MCC University match at Edgbaston, Birmingham.

Durham Cricket’s Michael Jones has been selected in Scotland’s squad to tour the UAE in December.

The squad is for the third round of the Cricket World Cup League Two and will be played at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium and the ICC Academy Oval 1 between the 9th and 15th of December.

Scotland will play four One Day Internationals whilst there against the United Arab Emirates and the USA.

Jones was delighted with the call up saying: “It’s a proud moment when asked to play for Scotland.

“It’s an exciting opportunity and one that I’m grateful for, hopefully I will be able to contribute and help us win games!”

There are more connections to the region within the 14 man squad.

Kyle Coetzer will captain the side and Coetzer has been playing his cricket at Benwell Hill Cricket Club in the North East Premier League.

Former Durham all-rounder Calum MacLeod is also part of the squad.
