Monkwearmouth’s Year 8s practised at the state-of-the-art Beacon of Light on Tuesday despite having to wait a little longer to play in the TUC Cup final in Durham.

The hour gave the group the chance to develop their skills in a quality environment, knowing that any practice is good for the group’s mentality.

The TUC Cup – originally to be played on Wednesday – was postponed until after the Easter holidays and will be rescheduled to a date to be determined in May.

A brief statement on Monkwearmouth’s Facebook page read that the academy staff were “gutted for the boys and parents who have put an immense amount of hard work, details and preparation into the game,” though conceding “I’m sure when the time comes we will all have a fantastic day at this prestigious final.”

Further reaction from the day from head coach Jamie Chandler will be published later on SportsByte.
