Alex Neil and Nathan Broadhead nominated for April’s League One awards.
Alex Neil and Nathan Broadhead have been nominated for Sky Bet League One Manager and Player of the month for April.
Neil has been a success ever since he came into the job at Sunderland losing just 1 game out of the 17 games that he has been in charge; however, he has done particularly well in April as he picked up 17 points out of a possible 21 which was enough to earn Sunderland a play-off spot at the end of the season.
There has been a never say die attitude in Sunderland’s performances since Neil’s arrival which has helped Sunderland win games late on and Neil’s no-nonsense approach to management has gone down well with the fans, as the club aim to escape League 1 at the fourth time of asking.
Wycombe Wanderers’ Gareth Ainsworth, Morecambe’s Derek Adams and Sheffield Wednesday’s Darren Moore are also amongst the nominations for Manger of the month.
Broadhead scored 5 goals in 7 games in April which has seen him nominated for the Player of the month award, including a brace against Shrewsbury and this form has seen him become a favourite amongst the Sunderland faithful.
The Everton loanee also scored in games against Gillingham, Cambridge and Morecambe.
Mk dons’ Scott Twine, Sheffield Wednesday’s Lee Gregory and Wigan’s Will Keane are also in contention for the award.
