Local boxer Josh Kelly makes his first appearance in the boxing since tasting defeat for the first time in February 2021.

Pretty Boy Kelly will look to return to winning ways on Friday May 13th as he faces Albanian fighter Xhuljo Vrenozi at the indigo O2 arena London after suffering a defeat to current European Welterweight champion David Avanesyan at the start of last year.

In that fight it was clear to see that Kelly was not ready for the European level as he was outfought in the end by a strong, experienced fighter despite having some early success the pace and nouse from Avanesyan proved to much for the Sunderland born fighter.

The fight will be shown live on channel 5 after the move away from Matchroom Kelly has partnered with Wasserman Boxing who aim to build Kelly back up and beyond the level where he fell in his last fight.

The 2016 Rio Olympian has shown clear talent throughout his 12-fight professional career with his slick, hit and don’t get hit style however, it is the heart and gas tank that could come into question going into potential big fights against fighters such as Connor Benn or Florian Marku.

Vrenozi, who also lost his last fight, has a professional record of 18-4 and Kelly is expected to pass this test with flying colours as he aims to get his boxing career moving forward again, with bigger fights waiting in the future.
