Sunderland U21s are back in Premier League 2 action on Sunday, December 3 as they look to continue their impressive form against Liverpool U21s.

Heading into this game, Sunderland have won three of their last four fixtures and will be feeling confident coming off the back of successive victories against Southampton and Bristol City.

The recent international break perhaps arrived at an inconvenient time for Graeme Murty’s side, with the break coming in the middle of a good spell for the Wearsiders.

Currently sitting in ninth place, the game represents a good opportunity for Sunderland to climb the Premier League 2 table as victory would see them go above their visitors who currently sit in eighth place, level on points with Sunderland.

Liverpool will be eager to bounce back in this game as in their last PL2 outing they were heavily beaten at home by West Ham United before defeat in the EFL Cup against League 2 side, Barrow.

West Ham defeated Liverpool 0-4 so perhaps Sunderland can capitalise on some defensive frailties against the Reds.

One man who will be looking to do just that is Sunderland’s talisman Harry Gardiner.

Having already found the back of the net five times in Premier League 2, Gardiner will be looking to add to his tally this coming Sunday.

As for the visitors from Merseyside, Polish striker Mateusz Musialowski will be one for the Sunderland defence to keep a watchful eye on.

Musialowski is Liverpool’s top scorer this season, having netted six times in all competitions.

The game kicks off at 19:00 this Sunday at Eppleton CW with tickets still available.
