On January 27th, the Royal Rumble will take place and kick off the most exciting and unpredictable Road To Wrestlemania in quite some time.

A whole list of stars in both sets of Rumble matches has been the most talk because there is a matter of whether Cody Rhodes will finish his story by winning back-to-back Rumbles or if a returning CM Punk is going to win his first Rumble match, ten years to the day in which he last competed in a WWE ring.

Seth Rollins’ recent injury has added another twist and intrigue to the Royal Rumble match because there is uncertainty as to whether or not he will make it back in time for WrestleMania; it begs the question: will they switch up the Royal Rumble winner?

Could Drew Mcintyre, who has been on a scintillating run as a villain, his current character of being the Scottish psychopath just laying waste and giving warnings to anyone that gets in his way, is it finally time for Drew to get his main event in front of a large audience something that was deprived four years ago due to the nature of the world at that time.

Is there a potential surprise element that could win the Men’s Royal Rumble Match? It is a possibility. This year’s Rumble match is wide open and is anyone’s for the taking; stories are wanting to be finished, and Main Event opportunities are to be taken, but who will be the one to win the Royal Rumble?

It is very similar on the Women’s side, but there are only two strong candidates to win the whole match, those are Becky Lynch and Damage CTRL’s Bayley.

There have been subtle teases between Lynch and the WWE Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley throughout the last two years, and since Ripley became champ, those teases have been more frequent. The 40th anniversary of the show of shows would be fit for a clash between The Eradicator of The Judgement Day and The Man, so maybe Becky wins the Rumble and sets up that titanic clash.

For Bayley, Damage CTRL is ready to move on without her. There has been a slow buildup for the eventual removal of Bayley from the group. The story they are telling right now on WWE programming is that Bayley will complete the gold set and win the Women’s Rumble to challenge Ripley at Mania.

But in reality, it will likely lead towards an inevitable showdown that sees Bayley return to being a babyface for the first time since early 2019 and take on Iyo Sky for the WWE Women’s Championship.

The Road to WrestleMania 40 has an important first step, and that comes Saturday, January 27th, from Tropicana Field in Tampa, Florida, at the Royal Rumble, which is streaming live on the WWE Network here in the U.K and on TNT Sports Box office.
