Newcastle Benfield Vs Kendal Town match preview

Newcastle Benfield play at home for the first time in four games against play-off chasers Kendal Town at Sam Smith’s Park on Saturday 19th September.

Last time out…

Benfield came out on top in midweek against Seaham Red Star in a game for the ages. On the scoresheet for Benfield was Andre Bennett, Glen Hargrave, Noah Millington and Jakub Zych who continued his impressive goal-scoring form, he now has four goals in three games for The Lions.

Benfield held on in the end despite late Red Star pressure and they gained another three points.

Previous Meeting…

The two teams have already met this season in the preliminary round of the FA Cup. Benfield came out 2-1 winners away from home thanks to a Glen Hargrave brace with the winner coming seconds before the full time whistle. This could add an extra dynamic to this afternoon’s clash.

Where the sides sit

Benfield sit 15th in the table gaining points on the teams around them with games in hand still left to play. Fergie will hope that the winning run can continue. Kendal are placed 5th in the league, their last match saw them come out victorious 2-1 in a big game against North Shields.

Pre-match predictions…

Andrew Ferguson’s first home outing as Benfield boss will be a tough one.

Kendal are a good side in this division and they have play-off aspirations. Benfield have, however won three on the spin and have got some momentum behind them. This team know where the back of the net is.

Last weekend against playoff contenders Marske United they scored four and won away from home. With the backing of the home supporters and Fergie’s first game at home, I can see Benfield getting a solid point in a 1-1 draw with Jakub Zych getting on the scoresheet.
