West Allotment Celtic vs Newcastle Benfield Match Preview
Newcastle Benfield is back in action for the second time this week as they travel to West Allotment Celtic tonight in the Ebac Northern League Division One.
Last time out…
The Lions were beaten by Blyth Town 3-2 at the MKM on Tuesday. Benfield are now winless in three. Blyth Town took the lead twice with Benfield responding instantly both times but couldn’t match The Braves third to earn a point.
Previous meeting…
The teams have already played each other this season. Two goals in the second half from Jakub Zych and James Wilson saw Benfield clinch the victory in early November. Andy Ferguson will be hoping the lads can replicate that performance tonight to get back to winning ways.
Where the sides sit…
The Lions are ninth in the table with 46 points having played 29 matches. Allotment are 18th on 26 points and have two games in hand on Benfield. In their last match West Allotment saw off Guisborough 3-2 in the league cup and they will want to use that momentum to kick start their league form going into the latter stages.
Leo’s pre-match predictions…
“With games coming thick and fast teams in the league only want results and they don’t care how they come by. Benfield need points if they want to mount a late run towards the playoffs and need to end this spell of bad form as soon as possible.
“Allotment will want to continue their momentum after winning in the league cup and will fancy themselves at home against The Lions. This game could easily go either way, but I feel there will be a reaction from the visitors, resulting in a 3-1 win.”
