The Whitley Warriors lost 5-9 to the Solihull Barons after a third period trio of goals from Solihull.
Goals from Zachary Yokoyama and Alex Whyte gave the Barons a 2-0 lead before Philip Edgar got one back for Whitley.
Both teams scored four goals in the second period, bringing the score to 5-6. All four Barons goals were scored by Niklas Ottosson, whilst Ross Douglas, Harry Harley, Ethan Reid, and Kyle Ross got on the scoresheet for Whitley.
Goals from Yokoyama, Ottosson, and Whyte in the third period secured a 5-9 Barons win.
The Warriors have now lost six of their last seven league games.
Yokoyama put Solihull ahead within two minutes with a goal on the break before Whyte doubled the visitor’s lead with a powerful shot from range six minutes later.
The Warriors were able to pull one back before the period ended after Edgar beat Solihull’s netminder one-on-one.
Early in the second period, Edgar shot wide but the puck bounced off the boards to Douglas who struck home levelling the score for the home team.
The Barons quickly regained the lead with Ottosson skating past the Whitley defence for a one-on-one goal.
Harley then levelled the game at 3-3 for the Warriors with a power-play goal.
Solihull quickly re-took the lead with Ottosson guiding the puck into the bottom-left corner of the net just a minute after Whitley had scored equalised.
Ottosson would soon score another goal whilst the Barons were short-handed to take a 3-5 lead.
Reid then halved the deficit with a fine shot into the top corner of the goal.
About half-way through the second period, three players were sent to the penalty box after a fist-fight broke out. Before the game could restart, two more players got into a fight leading to further dismissals.
Not long afterwards, Ottosson again scored one-on-one restoring a two-goal lead for the visitors.
Five Minutes before the period ended, Ross controlled the puck past two Barons defenders and struck home a powerful shot to bring the score to 5-6.
Early in the third period, Yokoyama reacted quickly to the puck hitting off the referee’s skate and took the puck into the Warrior’s zone where he fired in his second goal.
Solihull once again reacted quickly when a Whitley charge was stopped by a player accidentally running into the referee. They got the puck down the rink to Ottosson who found the back of the net.
Two minutes before the game ended, Whyte scored one more goal for the Barons to complete a dominant third period.
