Esh Winning come up victorious against Sunderland RCA

Esh Winning 4-0 Sunderland RCA

Sunderland RCA travelled to the The WindowsPlusRoofs Arena to play high-flying Esh winning in a difficult EBAC Northen League Division two away fixture on Friday night.

A brace from George Pinder in the 30th minute and during stoppage time of  the first half and goals from Reece Brown and Elliot Judson in the 54th and 72nd minute, were enough to secure all three points for the home team.

RCA were looking to build on their momentum from their victory over Bedlington Terriers last week.

The visitors had the upper hand during the opening quarter of the first half creating a number of early chances and their early pressured kept the hosts pinned in their own half.

Five minutes into the game and a cross into the box by Adam Lennox caused problems for the home keeper Taylor Bell who managed to palm it over the bar.

RCA kept pushing forward trying to get the opening goal and when Chris Thompson found Dan Maw on the edge of the box the RCA forward struck a great low shot which took a wicked deflection and went out for a corner.

Eight minutes later, the home team found the back of the net when a long ball forward was controlled by Ryan Cummings. He played through Sam Haynes who was allowed to cross the ball into the box where ex-RCA man George Pinder was on hand to hit a powerful shot from close range giving Preston Leech no chance.

Two minutes later, as Esh began to pile on the pressure, Leech was called upon to make another great save from Pinder.

However in injury time of first half another free-kick was delivered to the far post by Cummings and this time Pinder rose unopposed to head home to give Esh a 2-0 half time lead.

The hosts, with the advantage of the slope put pressure on the visitors defence and Pinder should have got his hat-trick in the 53 minute when he was clean through on goal but fired straight at the visiting goalkeeper.

Two minutes later RCA conceded their third goal of the night by when a long ball forward was well controlled by Brown who took the ball forward before driving the ball into the back of the net.

RCA tried to respond by bringing on all five substitutes, but they were unable to  make any inroads and the Esh defence coped very well with everything that that was being asked of them.

Esh made it four in the 72nd minute when RCA allowed Judson time and space on the right to swing in a cross come shot which flew over the head of Leech and looped under the bar and into the net.

This loss meant that RCA remain in 19th place with only four games remaining in the league.

They will need a much improved performance against play-off hopefuls Jarrow FC  next Saturday at the Lillian’s Blinds Arena.
