Gateshead United vs Tamworth: Match Preview
Gateshead will be looking to end their six-game winless run-on Saturday as Tamworth head to the Gateshead International Stadium.
Carl Magnay’s side will be looking to get back to winning ways after two draws and four defeats in the last six games.
Midfielder Luke Hannant has 21 goal contributions for Gateshead this season with 13 goals and eight assists and will be looking to add to his tally at the weekend.
Captain Regan Booty registered his ninth assist in the 3-1 home defeat to Braintree on Tuesday night and will be hoping to lead his side to a much needed three points on Saturday.
Despite leading at half time on Tuesday night Gateshead suffered defeat after three second half Braintree goals extended their poor run.
The Heed currently sit sixth in the National League five points ahead of Altrincham in eighth.
The visitors are led by Andy Peaks who led the Lambs to back-to-back promotions in the past two seasons.
The Lambs top goal scorer is striker Dan Creaney who has 15 goals in 37 appearances this season. Defender Ben Crompton is on loan from Championship side Sunderland until the end of the season.
Tamworth are currently sat 11th in the table with 51 points, five points away from Rochdale in the final play-off spot and nine points away from Gateshead.
Last time the sides met it was Tamworth who took all three points with a 2-1 home win back in early October with Creaney on the scoresheet.
Peaks’ side come into the game following a 3-1 away win at Dagenham & Redbridge on Saturday with Creaney amongst the goals yet again.
