Match Preview: Sunderland U21 vs Tottenham U21

Sunderland Under 21’s are back in Premier League 2 action on Monday evening. The Lads face reigning champions Tottenham Hotspur at Eppleton.

The young Black Cats were held to a goalless draw at the Stadium of Light on Friday by Nottingham Forest.

Graeme Murty’s side will be hoping to book a place in the Play-Offs on Monday night. Murty’s side with also have an opportunity to boost their chances for a spot in next years International Premier League Cup.

Despite winning the division last year, beating Sunderland in the final, Spurs are currently sat 23rd in the league with nothing to play for.

The visitors are led by former Grimsby Town midfielder Wayne Burnett. The 53-year-old has been in charge of the side since June 2017.

Spurs’ main outlet is midfielder Tyrese Hall with five goals and four assists in seventeen games. Striker Jaden Williams has five goals in 14 games for the Lilywhites.

Williams scored a hat-trick in Spurs’ last game a 4-0 victory over Blackburn Rovers.

Mikey Moore was also on the score sheet last time out. The 17-year-old has been in and around the first team for the majority of this season making seven Premier League appearances.

The action takes place from 7pm at Eppleton.
