Nathan Aspinall beats Luke Humphries to secure his first nightly win this year – Premier League Darts Night 10 – Aspinall
Nathan Aspinall secured his first nightly win of the 2025 Premier League after defeating Luke Humphries at a thrilling Night 10 in Manchester.
The night started with Chris Dobey against Michael van Gerwen, who started in fourth place but only a point ahead of Rob Cross and three points above Aspinall.
The second match saw a home tie with Aspinall against Cross. The Stockport man breezed to a 4-1 lead before Cross snuck a leg back, but Aspinall persevered to win the match 6-2.
Quarter-final three included Luke Littler, who was gunning for a record-breaking fifth nightly win in the Premier League, and Gerwyn Price, who had a six-game winning streak against the 18-year-old.
The last quarter-final was between last week’s winner Stephen Bunting and world number one Humphries.
Despite losing the first leg, Cool Hand Luke thrashed The Bullet with an average of 118.43 – the third highest in Premier League history – to win 6-1.
The two semi-finals saw Aspinall defeat Van Gerwen 6-2 and Humphries beat Littler 6-4, before the Stockport-born Asp beat Humphries 6-4 in the final.
The table at the beginning of Night 10 had Littler at the top with a six-point lead over Humphries in second, while Bunting remained bottom, eight points behind the play-off positions.
Van Gerwen, who missed last week’s action after sustaining a shoulder injury which he got after trying to put a shirt on, threw seven 140+ checkouts as well as two 180s on his way to a 6-4 quarter-final victory against Hollywood.
In the third quarter-final, Price hit a nine-dart finish and a 103.47 average, but despite this the Welshman was eclipsed by Littler, who won the match by six legs to three.
Bunting had not won a single match until night nine in Berlin, where he beat Aspinall, Humphries and Price to secure his first nightly win of the season.
But his luck ran out in the last quarter-final of the night, with Humphries cruising to a third consecutive semi-final.
The first semi-final was between van Gerwen and Aspinall, who was 100% on his checkouts against Cross in their quarter-final.
The Asp took the first three legs but his success in the doubles faltered, and he gave the Dutchman an opportunity to get himself back into the game.
This resurgence didn’t last long though as Aspinall maintained pressure and defeated the three-time world champion 6-2 to reach his third nightly final.
Semi-final two saw Littler take on Humphries in a top of the table clash in which Humphries broke throw in the opening leg after Littler missed five darts at double 10.
After doubling his lead, Littler fought back to bring it back to 2-2 after merely missing a nine-dart finish, before taking the lead by four legs to two.
Some clinical throwing meant that Humphries regained his lead and the world number one dug deep to win the match after missing two match darts.
The final, between home boy Aspinall and Humphries, gave The Asp a chance for his first nightly win, while Cool Hand Luke was looking to close the gap between himself and Littler in first.
Humphries held throw after the first leg, and tripled his lead in quick succession, before the man from Stockport got himself level.
Aspinall charged into a 5-3 lead, but Humphries won the ninth leg to put the pressure back on. After a few messy darts Aspinall hit double four to get his first nightly win of the 2025 Premier League.
