Team Sunderland’s Netball 1sts start season in style with victory over Sheffield Hallam
Team Sunderland’s Netball 1sts kicked off the BUCS season with a terrific 54-29 win against Sheffield Hallam’s 2nds on Wednesday afternoon.
Sunderland dominated the CitySpace hall with a very confident display – securing their first win of the 25-26 BUCS season.

It was a shaky start for the hosts, as Sheffield Hallam seemed to dominate the court.
However, it wasn’t long before Sunderland found their footing, and a beautiful display of passing, movement and teamwork helped to turn the score around – ending the first quarter 13-5.
Sheffield Hallam made a quick start to the second quarter, and managed to level the game at 14-all.
Despite the away team’s incredible comeback, Sunderland’s teamwork and determination enabled the hosts to come out on top of this quarter; the end score being 24-15 to Sunderland.
Sunderland dominated the third quarter, as they kept up with incredible attacking passes and driving the ball towards the attacking third.

All players played their role phenomenally and the defending was exceptional from Sunderland, as the hosts raced into a 43-22 lead.
In the fourth quarter, an incredible display of teamwork, excellent defending and driving towards the ball secured their first win of the BUCS season.
The team was absolutely delighted with their performance and Sophie earned her place as Player of the Match this week for Sunderland.
Team Sunderland’s Netball 1sts return to the court next week as they travel to Northumbria’s 3rds, before returning to CitySpace to face York 3rds.
