Blyth Spartans ‘don’t fear anybody at the minute’ after narrow win over fellow strugglers Ossett United
Blyth Spartans forward Jack Foalle praised his side’s recent form after they extended their winning run to three games with a 1–0 win over Ossett United at Ingfield Stadium on Saturday.
“It wasn’t a pretty game of football from either side. Nobody could take control of the game, pitch conditions weren’t helpful, and you have to grind out wins when it’s like that when you take an early lead,” Foalle said, speaking to club media.
“It’s like a machine at the minute; you see front and back, everyone is grafting. We knew from November, when everyone signed here, we knew what our jobs had to be to come out of this place (relegation zone).
“We had a disappointing December, but since January onwards, we’ve progressed, and we know what our roles are going into every game. We’ve got to keep grinding away.
“I’m not interested in being the top goal scorer; I don’t care who scores a goal for this football team. I’ve said it a number of times, I don’t care who scores, let’s get us into safety, and once we survive, I might have a look at it then.
“All anybody wants when they play football is to be loved and appreciated, and I’ll give 110% no matter what club I play for. The club will get absolutely everything from me until I’m done playing football or the club doesn’t want me anymore; they’ll get 110% no matter what happens.”
Spartans face high-flying Redcar Athletic on Wednesday night and will be looking to continue their good form to bridge the gap between themselves and the bottom four.
Foalle continued: “We don’t fear anybody at the minute; it doesn’t matter that they’re flying at the top of the league, but we go into every game thinking we can take anybody on.
“We played second, we played third, we played fourth, we gave everybody a good game, we’ll go there with nothing to fear, and we’ll go and try to give it everything we’ve got.”
