Mason Booth wasted no time at Machine MMA 47 putting Lucas Butler to sleep within 40 seconds.

Mason Booth doesn’t like to waste any time inside the cage, as the saying goes you do not get paid for overtime. That is exactly what Booth embodies with an emphatic finish against hometown favourite Lucas Butler.

Training out of Blood Sweat Tears in Northampton, the amateur MMA fighter travelled to The Fed in Gateshead to compete against the previously undefeated Butler. Booth has heaps of confidence, but a finish within 40 seconds would have felt like a fever dream for the young prospect from Northampton.

“I know what I’ve got in my locker. I know he was going to shoot (attempt a takedown) straight off the bat. It’s what he has done in his past three fights. I prepared for it, was training with some of the best, like Tariq (Pell), Jordan (Vucenic), all of those guys.”

It was a fantastic opportunity for the 19-year-old to showcase his skills and prove he’s one of the best amateur up-and-comers in the bantamweight division, and a dominant finish over Butler solidifies that.

Booth wasn’t shy about letting fans and his potential opponent know what he wants next:

“I’ve been calling for this guy for a little while now. Card on June 6th, Cage Rage. Ibrahim Mboup, you massive p**sy. Come fight me; my boy Alex smoked you just like I said he would. Now come fight me, come defend your title against me, that’s what I want.”

With clear intentions, Booth is on a positive trajectory in his career, improving to 4-1 as an amateur mixed martial artist and has his eyes set firmly on championship gold in the near future.
