Jonny Clayton extends his lead at top of the table picking up his second nightly win: Premier League Darts Night Six – Nottingham 

The Ferret overcame Michael van Gerwen, Stephen Bunting and Luke Humphries to go eight points clear in the Premier League table.  

Match 1: Josh Rock vs Stephen Bunting 

Josh Rock’s winless run continues as Bunting missed match darts for a whitewash victory. The Bullet eventually got over the line after spurning eight match darts.  

Rock missed nine darts at double himself allowing Bunting to reel off the opening five legs on the spin. The Bullet took out double ten to pick up an important two points.  

Rock remains at the foot of the table and takes on Gerwyn Price in Dublin next week. The Northern Ireland star reached the semi-finals of the UK open at the weekend but just couldn’tget going which has been the story of his Premier League campaign so far.

Match 2: Jonny Clayton vs Michael van Gerwen 

Jonny Clayton extended his first-round run to six picking up another two points extending a healthy lead at the top of the pile. The Green Machine went 2-0 up but the Ferret struck backwinning six of the next seven legs.  

Clayton pinned double four for the match, leaving van Gerwen winless since losing the final to Price in night two.  

The world #4 won his opening five Premier League games reaching back-to-back finals but has failed to pick up a single point since pulling out of week three in Glasgow.

Match 3: Luke Humphries vs Gian van Veen 

Humphries got the better of Gian van Veen in the third quarter final of the evening. The pair kept holding throw up until leg seven where Humphries took advantage breaking the Dutchman’s throw.  

The next three legs followed suit with three holds meaning Cool Hand booked his place to the semi-finals. Van Veen faces van Gerwen in an all-Dutch affair next week with the pair both looking to get back to winning ways.

Match 4: Gerwyn Price vs Luke Littler 

Luke Littler edge past Price in an absolute classic with both averaging over a ton. The Nuke took a 2-0 lead before Price responded with a 151-checkout followed by a 152.  

Price led 4-3 and was given an opportunity when Littler missed three darts at the top. The Iceman required 13 and his dart at single five slipt into the twenty busting his score. The Nuke eventually won the leg levelling the scoring. 

Price sent the game to a last leg decider but Littler pinned tops for a place in the semi-final. The 19-year-old has now won 11 of the last 12 meetings with the Welshman.

 Semi-final 1: Stephen Bunting vs Jonny Clayton 

Clayton went 3-0 up in just minutes however Bunting clawed level picking up the next three legs. The Ferret powered through and booked his spot in a third final.  

The Bullet missed 18 darts at double with an extremely poor 14.29% on the outer ring. Bunting now sits seventh in the table just two points outside the play-offs.

 Semi-final 2: Luke Humphries vs Luke Littler 

Humphries almost squandered a 5-2 lead but took out 128 for his first final of the campaign. Cool Hand raced to a 5-2 lead taking out 130 in leg seven.  

The Nuke fired back reeling of the next three legs and sending the advantage in his favour, but the world #2 hit his second ton plus finish of the game to see off the world #1. 

Littler takes on Bunting next week and will be looking to add more points to his name and climb the table.

Final: Jonny Clayton vs Luke Humphries  

The Ferret completed the night in style racing to a 4-1 lead with a 146 checkout in leg five. The world #2 missed seven darts at a double with Clayton 66.67% on the outer ring. Clayton pinned his beloved double 16 to complete his triumph in Nottingham. 

The pair meet in the quarter final in Dublin next week with Clayton looking to extend his first round winning streak to seven.
