Lower Breck 1-5 Hebburn Town: Olly Martin hat-trick helps Hornets into FA Vase fourth round

An Olly Martin hat-trick helped Hebburn Town secure a 5-1 away win against Lower Breck and progression to the FA Vase fourth round.

Lower Breck were ahead within three minutes through Louis Armstrong but
Martin’s first in the 24th minute ensured the sides went into the break level.

Carl Taylor put the Hornets ahead in the 50th minute and the away side started to run away with it from there.

Michael Richardson scored in the 52nd minute and Martin added two more in the 58th and 72nd minute.

Hebburn made the long journey to Liverpool to face the Breck and hoped for a better result on an artificial pitch than they managed against Stockton Town in the previous week.

But the Hornets found themselves behind early on when Austin pickpocketed Louis Storey and broke into the box before adding a composed finish into the bottom left corner.

The away side started to take control after going behind and saw chances from Richardson and Martin go begging.

And they finally found the breakthrough around the half-hour when Ben Dibb-Fuller’s cross was only half-cleared to Martin on the right side of the box and he fired low inside the near post.

The Hornets took the lead five minutes into the second half when Taylor was on the end of a wonderful cross from Dan Groves to head home from close range.

They doubled their lead a couple of minutes later when Graeme Armstrong headed a fantastic Martin delivery towards goal and Richardson tapped in from close range to make sure of the goal.

Richardson attempted the spectacular from around halfway and his incredible strike forced Joshua Molloy to tip it wide.

Martin grabbed Hebburn’s fourth when the ball fell to him on the edge of the box and he fired clinically into the right corner.

And the forward got his hat-trick when he headed home a good cross from Richardson on the end of a great passing move from the Hornets.

Hebburn will find out the identity of their fourth-round opponents in Monday’s draw and the match will be played on Saturday 11 January.
