Seaham Red Star 1-2 Billingham Town

Seaham Red Star suffered a second straight defeat as they fell to Billingham Town at the Independent Utility Advice Arena.

Billingham opened the scoring in the first half with a sweet strike from distance by Connor Rennison.

Red Star drew level early into the second half from Louis Anderson however the away side found the goal to take all three points through Connor Rennison once again with 15 minutes to go.

Three midweek loan signings came into the Seaham side as goalkeeper Callum Dobson, midfielder Carl Taylor and striker Jamie Clark were in Mark Collingwood’s starting XI.

It didn’t take more than a minute for Clark to almost make an instant impact as his quick feet on the edge of the Billingham area found him a yard of space and his shot narrowly missed going across the face of the goal.

Billingham took the lead in the eighth minute however as Connor Rennison hit a glorious shot from 20 yards which nestled into Callum Dobson’s far corner leaving him no chance.

On the half hour mark Tom Lawson chased down what appeared to be an astray ball however met it at the byline and played it across the Billingham goal, almost catching goalkeeper Jack Norton off guard.

Six minutes after the break Red Star full back Josh Baggs drove forwards to set up Jamie Clark who’s shot from 18 yards forced a sublime reflex save from Norton, however Louis Anderson was on hand to turn the rebound in.

It was then Callum Dobson’s turn for the spotlight as 14 minutes later he initially dropped the ball from a Billingham corner but came up with a stunning reflex save of his own to redeem himself.

The pressure mounted and four minutes later Town’s Connor Rennison turned sharply on the edge of the Red Star box and unleashed a shot which hit the post.

It was the 75th minute where the game would be decided as Dobson misplaces his throw which Rennison intercepted allowing him to let fly from 25 yards and beat the backtracking goalkeeper.
