Newly titled North 1 Moralee Champions, Whitley Bay Warriors have to face Blackburn Hawks 1 in their final double fixture of the regular season.

Warriors have only had one other meeting with the Hawks, which was a 6-3 victory in the second fixture of 2020. Tailoring the start of the new decade to their title-winning season.

Paul Matthews, General Manager, Whitley Bay Warriors has said:

“We have only played [Blackburn] once so far so again this will be a tough game as well but all the lads are looking forward to playing this weekend as champions.”

Whitley Bay may have won the league but with three games remaining of the regular season and the playoffs rapidly approaching, will they be relaxing for the remainder of the regular season?

Matthews said:

“The team will be focused on staying fit and healthy and carrying on our winning form. The playoffs start in 2 weeks time so we will be mentally ready and prepared for these games. We also have an N1 v S1 final to play after the playoffs so we still have another 2 trophies to try and win.”

Despite the fact that Warriors and Blackburn have similar form, Whitley has lost two games out of the last five and Hawks 1 have lost three out of five, Blackburn looks to be on the back foot with their overall season record. They have lost 11 domestic games over the season, only winning seven. On the other hand, Whitley has won 19 games (two in overtime) and only lost a single game in overtime – back in September.
