Gerrard Xie and Daniel Mavlyutov set to make Hillspeed GB3 debut

Six months since the final race of the 2022 GB3 Championship, the Markham Vale team is set to have a new driver line up for their 2023 campaign.

Chinese rookie Gerrard Xie and Turkish driver Daniel Mavlyutov are set to begin their maiden seasons in the GB3 Championship.

Xie has had an impressive career up to date and arrives in the GB3 championship as a reigning F4 Chinese Champion. Xie had a dominant season after claiming 12 wins from 14 race starts and finishing runner up at the Macau GP last year at a GB3 test drive at Donington Park this year.

After beginning his racing career in 2021 in Formula Ford, Mavlyutov has impressed the team at Hillspeed despite his short career. After a season in the F4 British Championship last year, and further races in the Spanish F4 and Formula Regional Middle East, the youngster is determined to impress further this season.

Hillspeed Team Principal, Richard Ollerenshaw, commented: “Everyone at the team is looking forward to getting the new season underway and working hard with both Gerrard and Daniel to help them progress as the championship unfolds.

“The level of competition is very high in GB3, so it’s going to be important for our two rookies to get as much race mileage under their belts as possible – especially at a track like Oulton Park International.”
