Hebburn Town FC 2 – 1 Grimsby Borough

A last-minute goal from player-manager Daniel Moore saw Hebburn Town take all three points at the death.

The first goal of the game came after just eight minutes from Grimsby Borough’s Harvey Tomlinson.

However, Hebburn Town found an equalizer in the 29th minute from Amar Purewal, to make it all square at halftime.

Grimsby’s Jaz Goundry was shown a red card in the 55th minute after receiving his second yellow of the game.

The winning goal of the game came in the 93rd minute from Hebburn’s Moore.

Hebburn went into the game sitting second in the league table having drawn their last game 1-1. The Hornets went into the game knowing that a win would take them level points with top spot. Grimsby Borough went into the match on the back of two defeats.

After a quick start the first goal came after a defensive mistake saw a poor back pass to Hebburn keeper Shaun Newbrook find its way to Tomlinson who made it 1-0 to Grimsby.

Hebburn Town struggled to get back into the game and it took yet another defensive mistake, this time from Grimsby’s Goalkeeper Liam Higton, who failed to clear a free kick allowing Purewal to head the ball into the back of the net.

Things only went downhill for Grimsby as Goundry was shown a second yellow after a tackle on Purewal.

As the game went to the death a last-minute chance saw Olly Martins shot hit the post which was then headed home by Moore, stealing all three points for The Hornets.
