“We want to win this league” Sunderland Men’s 3rds captain reflects on season so far

After starting the season strongly and being top of the league with 0 points dropped, Sunderland Men’s 3rds have their sights set on winning the league.

Captain Danny Jackson-Brown said: “The season so far is great, if you’d offered me top of the league at Christmas with 0 points dropped then I would have taken it in a heartbeat.

“I think the main aim of the team is very clear and objective. We want to win this league and I think we have put ourselves in a great position so far to achieve that goal. What’s important is after Christmas that we continue in the way we are going to achieve that.”

Reflecting on his highlight of the season Jackson-Brown said: “I think for me the highlight of the season so far is the full-time whistle in the home game against Hull.

“Obviously, the game hadn’t gone to plan being 3 nil down against anyone isn’t great, but against a poor side is awful, so the relief and accomplishment for the team to score 4 so quick and win was great for the lads”.

The 3rds go into the Christmas break off the back of a 5-0 away victory against York St John’s sixths, and will look to continue their winning run when the season restarts.
