Ranking Newcastle player’s season – Part 3 – Forwards
Callum Wilson – 7/10
Wilson has once again spent a large part of the season out through injury, only playing 19 of Newcastle’s opening 35 fixtures, but when he has played, he has notched up an impressive nine goals.
He recently became the Magpies’ second highest goal scorer in Premier League history, behind only Alan Shearer so his season has been relatively successful.
Anthony Gordon – 9/10
With 10 Premier League goals and 10 assists this season, Gordon must be in contention for a place in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the Euros.
His consistency and constant availability makes Gordon one of the Magpies’ players of the season.
Alexander Isak – 9/10
Twenty Premier League goals. What more needs to be said?
His overall play and electrifying pace have made him and Anthony Gordon one of the most feared duos in the league.
Harvey Barnes – 6/10
Like Wilson, Barnes missed about half of the campaign through injury, breaking his toe in September.
However, when he has played Newcastle have looked a better a side with Harvey Barnes in the squad.
Jacob Murphy – 5/10
He’s been okay.
Filled in at both right back and on the right wing this season when needed, he has proved to be a useful utility option for Eddie Howe this season, but nothing more.
Miguel Almiron – 5/10
After a good 22/23 season, Almiron has had a fairly underwhelming campaign this time out. The 30-year-old has only found the net three times in the Premier League this year, leaving many fans frustrated.
However, as the Paraguayan international scored the Magpies’ first Champions League goal in over 20 years, creating a great memory for the fans, a five out of 10 is justified.
