North Star ABC Fight Night: Local boxer wins in main event grudge match

North Star ABC hosted their first show of this year’s boxing season, and local boxer Liam Scotter avenged his defeat to Brad Batey of Newbiggen BC in their rematch on the top of the bill.

The main event was the only senior bout on the show. Scotter had lost on a split decision to Batey a few months prior on the Newbiggen show.

The first round began with Scotter and Batey both trying to outbox one another as would be expected for boxers at their experience and age. One minute into the bout Scotter countered Batey’s right hand with a big left hook that tested Batey’s chin.

Round two saw Batey fight on the offensive pushing Scotter into the ropes at every given chance in a bid to win the round with explosive pressure. Scotter however remained standing tall and was unwavered by the assault, rolling and slipping many of Batey’s punches.

The third and final round saw Scotter tuck up and fight back against the assault from Batey. Scotter fully switched on, stole the show rolling out and moving after every combination which frustrated Batey and won him the round.

Scotter went onto win the bout via split decision. This victory may propose a third fight in the Scotter Batey trilogy because as it stands they are tied at 1-1, and a third fight would only make sense to settle the score.

Overall, the show was a huge success for North Star ABC, with 13 of their fighters victorious in the 16 bouts that took place.
