Match Preview: Sunderland Spartans @ York St John Jaguars
The Sunderland Spartans play York St John for the second week in a row as they look to continue their winning ways from last weekend.
In last weekend’s game the Spartans walked away with a 52-14 win, however in this fixture last year York St John took home the bragging rights last year with a 14-12 victory.
Sunderland will come into the game as favourites after a Sportank panel put them as 4-1 favourites last weekend.
Ahead of playing the Jaguars for a second straight game Sunderland’s quarterback Aaron Wall said: “We intend to approach every game with the Spartans at the front of our thoughts. I truly believe that when we stick to our way of playing football, it doesn’t matter who lines up against us.”
Wall had an impressive 256 passing yards last week including five passing touchdowns and multiple rushing two-point conversions.
The Spartans will be looking to win two games in a row and in turn help their play-off push on Sunday.
Social secretary Fin McIntyre said: “A win on Sunday could contribute majorly as that puts us 2-1. That also gives us the push to go onto the next week to make us 3-1 allowing us to push for second in the division or even first.”
