Valtteri Bottas Closes Red Bull Rumour Down

Valtteri Bottas has ruled out a move to Red Bull after the loss of his Sauber seat for the 2025 season.

Many F1 fans know how much of a team player Bottas has been in his career, and hasn’t been able to show it this season with such a poor performing car.

He was able to support Lewis Hamilton win many of his Driver Championships as the Mercedes number two driver. The rumour of the move to Red Bull has come from the reoccurring poor performances by Sergio Perez this season, after only collecting 49 points in the last 16 races.

Bottas said: “Well I could see myself filling that role.”

Bottas also holds a record that no driver ever wants, as he has the most points in F1 without a Drivers Championship.

However after such a poor performances so far this season, would he be better than Perez in the Red Bull? Bottas arguably is the best No.2 driver the sport has seen and would be able to help Max Verstappen to more Driver Championships, just like he did with Hamilton at Mercedes.

Bottas further added: “Someone in the organisation is against me.” Reinforcing the move to Red Bull is not going to happen for the Finnish driver.

Bottas however, has shown he has the skills to be a world championship contender throughout his career, especially during his time being Lewis’ teammate. However during his time at Mercedes there was more downs than ups for him as a driver. Bottas had to concede to the team orders costing him many race wins, which helped Hamilton secure many of his Drivers Titles.

Would Bottas be able to put up with it again? Bottas had his fair share of doing what he was told at Mercedes, and from his departure of the Brackley based team Bottas has been the No.1 driver for both Alfa Romeo and Sauber.

Perez is the designated No.2 driver at Red Bull, however Verstappen has wiped the floor when comparing points scored to his Mexican teammate. Would he do the same with Bottas if he were in the same seat?
