Premier League Darts Night Nine: The Bullet fires to victory in Berlin

Stephen Bunting ended his winless run in the Premier League with a nightly win in Germany. The Bullet came back to win a last leg decider against Gerwyn Price to clinch all five points.

Ahead of proceedings it was announced that Michael Van Gerwen had withdrawn from the night due to a shoulder injury.

Due to Van Gerwen pulling out Price was handed a bye to the semi finals as well as two points and a +1 leg difference.

Bunting opened the night with a 6-2 victory over Nathan Aspinall. The Bullet averaged 103.40 on his way to picking up his first points of the season against the Asp.

Quarter final two saw Luke Humphries overcome fifth place Rob Cross. The World number one looked to be in a spot of trouble in the early stages after Cross took a 3-1 lead. Humphries went onto win five legs in a row winning 6-3.

In the third and final first round tie Chris Dobey stunned the league leader Luke Littler. Littler was favourite to win the night but suffered an early blow. The Nuke went from being 1-0 up to 5-1 down very quickly and went on to suffer a  6-2 defeat at the hands of Hollywood.

Bunting went on to book his place in the final at the detriment of Humphries. The Bullet took a 2-0 lead, however Cool Hand Luke battled back and made it 2-2. The World number five then went on to win four legs on the bounce to defeat Humphries 6-2 and book his place in the final.

After a long wait, Price eventually got involved in the action with a semi final clash against Dobey. The Iceman got out the blocks early breaking Dobey’s throw in the second leg for a 2-0 lead. The former World Champ then stormed to a 5-2 lead and killed the game off hitting his favoured double top for a place in his third final of the campaign.

The final was a bit of a scrappy affair at times with 29 missed darts at double between both players. At the halfway point the score was level at 3-3 with each leg being a break of throw. Price then looked as if he was going to clinch it after taking a 5-4 lead but Bunting had other ideas finishing the game off with a 107 finish.

Despite picking up a vital five points Bunting remains rock bottom but moves two points from Dobey. Price leap frogs Van Gerwen to move to third. Whilst Littler remains at the top of the pile six points clear of Humphries.

Premier League action returns next Thursday from Manchester, the home of the current World Champion.
