Oleksandr Usyk and Daniel Dubois to collide in blockbuster rematch at Wembley Stadium
WBC, WBO, WBA and Ring Magazine heavyweight titleholder Oleksandr Usyk will meet former foe and current IBF champion Daniel Dubois in a rematch at Wembley Stadium on July 19th.
Their first bout in 2023, held in Wroclaw, Poland due to the war in Ukraine was set as Usyk’s home ground, and ended in controversy.
Usyk was heavily favoured but faced unexpected resistance from Dubois early on. The British challenger landed several strong shots, including a fifth-round body punch that dropped Usyk. The referee ruled it a low blow, giving Usyk time to recover—a decision that sparked debate among fans who believed the punch was legal and on the belt line.
Usyk regained control and stopped Dubois in the ninth round, but Dubois earned respect for his performance. Since then, Dubois shocked the boxing world by defeating fellow Brit Anthony Joshua to claim the IBF title, securing his spot in the rematch.
Meanwhile, Usyk cemented his legacy by defeating Tyson Fury twice in two classics. Now, both men have a chance to make history—no heavyweight has ever unified all four belts twice which Usyk Is aiming to do. A win for Dubois would make him only the second British fighter to become undisputed champion, joining Lennox Lewis.
For Usyk, this could be one of his final fights, and victory would solidify his place among the all-time greats. But Dubois has already shown he can trouble the Ukrainian, setting the stage for what promises to be an epic showdown.
