Preview: Premier League Darts Night Six – Nottingham
Luke Littler is looking for back-to-back nightly wins after breaking even more history on his way to retaining the UK Open.
Match 1: Josh Rock vs Stephen Bunting
Rock is still in search of his first Premier League points on debut.
The Northern Ireland star finally ended his run of 6-2 defeats last week, picking up four legs against Littler.
Rocky also made the semi-finals of the UK Open, beating the Bullet on the way.
Bunting suffered a first-round defeat in a last-leg decider against Gerwyn Price in Cardiff last time out.
The Bullet will want to pick up two points to be in reach of those ahead of him, with Rock in desperate need of wins after just five weeks of action.
My prediction: Rock 4-6 Bunting
Match 2: Jonny Clayton vs Michael van Gerwen
Van Gerwen crashed out in the opener last week with the World #2 Luke Humphries not giving the Green Machine a sniff.
Clayton has won all five of his quarter-finals so far – giving him a healthy advantage at the top of the table.
The pair are yet to meet in this year’s Premier League with van Gerwen winning three of the last five meetings.
However, the Ferret did win the most previous clash in the quarter-finals of Players Championships 14 last year.
My prediction: Clayton 6-3 van Gerwen
Match 3: Luke Humphries vs Gian van Veen
Humphries takes on van Veen in week six.
The Giant has won seven of the last eight meetings including beating Cool Hand in the European Championship final and the quarter finals of the World Championship.
Van Veen has only lost one of his quarter finals losing to eventual nightly winner Price in a last-leg decider in Antwerp.
The world #3 has made three finals but is yet to pick up a first nightly win.
My prediction: Humphries 5-6 van Veen
Match 4: Gerwyn Price vs Luke Littler
Price takes on Littler in a repeat of last week’s semi final in Wales.
The Iceman beat Littler in last year’s final in Nottingham.
The Nuke had a very impressive week and looks to be back to his usual self.
The 19-year-old got back to winning ways in the Premier League before retaining the UK Open beating James Wade 11-7.
Littler now has the third most major titles with 12 only Phil Taylor and van Gerwen have more.
The teenage sensation also extended his televised semi-final run to 16 games unbeaten with his comeback win over Rock.
My prediction: Price 4-6 Littler
